Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that are shipped with your product.
Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions section.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system section:
Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the sled from the enclosure.
Removing the 1.8-inch Solid State Drive:
Press the drive lock button to release the solid state drive (SSD) from the drive holder.
Lift the SSD out from the sled.
Disconnect the SATA power and data cable from the SSD.
Ensure that the SSD power connector remains connected to the system board.
Installing the 1.8-inch Solid State Drive:
Connect the SATA power and data cable to the solid state drive (SSD).
Slide the SSD with the SATA power and data cable into the SSD drive holder.
Press the SSD down until the drive lock clicks into place and secures the SSD.
Install the sled into the enclosure.
After working inside your system:
Install the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
Turn on the system, including any attached peripherals.
